Walk to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world on the epic trail that many successful Everest Summiteers have taken since Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of the Everest, Nepal and Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand in 1953. Adventurers’ dream of making it to the Everest base camp on foot is definitely a noble adventure idea and it becomes even livelier when Everest Base Camp is combined with a peak climbing. The climbing expedition of Island Peak which is 6189 meters above sea level is an incredible expedition adventure that takes you to the base camp of Everest and to the summit of this expedition peak which was first summited in the year 1956 by a Swiss Expedition as part of acclimatization and practice to their ascent of the Everest.
Island Peak which was named Imja Tse in the year 1983 is a very popular trekking peak in the Everest region in the Himalayas of Nepal. Although some climbing is involved, this peak is not a highly technical climbing peak. So to climb to the summit of Island Peak, you do not necessarily have to be a seasoned climber. This is simply a trekking peak which can be summited without much of mountaineering skills and experience under the guidance of a climbing guide.
If you love the Himalayan adventure, this expedition trip is one of the best trips to experience the Himalayas. The trip brings you an excellent opportunity to experience the spectacular Himalayas on the Everest region taking you to the Everest Base Camp and eventually bringing the summit of six thousand meters mountain. Your strong will power and sincere effort under the supervision and guidance of an expert mountain climbing guide only can bring this trip come true for you.

The stunning mountain peaks seen from this homeland of the famous Sherpas are… This homeland of famous climbing tribe Sherpa, who have the roots centuries back into Tibet, has become the ethnic Sherpa town for ages now when they migrated to the Everest region crossing the Himalayas.
Development of tourism activities in the Everest region has brought a significant change in the social and economic lives of Sherpa community as they have been the most preferred climbing assistants and trekking guides. All local Sherpa households of Namche bazar have been benefitted from the tourism industry as they have been able to run hotels at their own hometown.

Doing so, the day will allow us ample time to well acclimatize for the summit attempt.
Stay overnight at the Island peak base camp.
Day 14: Base Camp – Summit 6189 m – Base Camp
The day for us starts really early today soon after the midnight. The big day to climb Island peak which is also known as Imja Tse has come. We are going to set our feet on the path that a Swiss climbing team had successfully put in the year 1953. We begin our climb through sandy trail and proceed ahead on some grassy trail before we meet the trail filled with boulders. We tirelessly keep our spirit high and effort up to go higher toward the stunning summit. As we move higher ahead we feel the narrowing of the mountain trail before it turns completely into a snowy ridgeline and then leads us to the summit glacier. The glacier part is the trickiest part of the climb as it has several crevasses. We need to be roped up to walk along the glacier towards the summit. After the ropes are set, we begin our walk on the final section towards the summit. Eventually, after the strenuous effort and dodged will power, the summit of the Island peak is blessed to us. We celebrate the achievement of the peak, enjoy some quality time at the peak and take pictures before making our way down towards the base camp.
We stay our overnight at the base camp after the successful adventure.
Day 15: Island Base Camp – Pangboche 3985m
We walk to Pangboche village today. To our relief, we are walking back to a lower elevation after our successful Island peak summit ascent. While walking to Pangboche, we will be able to experience the Sherpa culture in a deeper level as we walk past the Sherpa villages of Shomare and Orsho. When we reach Pangboche village after about six hours of walk, we find ourselves surrounded by the stunning mountains of Everest from the north, Thamserku, Kangtaiga and Ama Dablam from the east and Kongde from the south. The scenic beauty of the village adds more to our joy and excitement of achievement of walking to the base of the highest mountain in the world and summiting the Island peak.
Stay overnight at Pangboche.
Day 16: Pangboche – Namche 3440m
We take our breakfast at our lodge in Pangboche and start the trek for the day to Namche. The walk takes us via Tengboche where we can visit a monastery and explore the surround for a while until our lunch is ready. After lunch at Tengboche, we start our descent towards Namche bazar through beautiful serene forested area full of juniper and rhododendron trees. Following the trail along the Dudh Koshi river gorge, we still continue further down towards our destination for today. Our day will be even more beautiful if we get chance to see some wildlife during our walk. On reaching Namche after around five hours of walk, we check into a lodge and relax.
Stay overnight at Namche bazar.
Day 17: Namche – Lukla 2860m
Today we map the Everest trail all the way back down to Lukla. We take the same trail we took to go up and come across several suspension bridges and walk past several local villages. Dudh Koshi River flow adds more beauty on the trail and makes the walk more enjoyable. And we eventually reach the town of Lukla where our trek to the Everest Base Camp comes to end.
We bid farewell to our supporting crew members expressing our thankfulness for everything they did to take us to the base camp of the world’s highest peak and bring us back safely. We stay overnight at Lukla today waiting for the flight back to Kathmandu tomorrow.
Day 18: Lukla – Kathmandu
