This Gosaikunda Helambu trek takes you to experience the incredible charm of Langtang valley, Gosaikunda region and Helambu area where you can experience the overwhelming beauty of Himalayan peaks, Himalayan atmosphere, ethnic cultural beauty and spiritual energy.
The trek goes to cover the trekking places in the Langtang valley taking you upto Kyanging Gompa and then heads towards Gosaikunda and takes you through a high mountain pass. The trek eventually finishes in the Helambu region before it takes you back to Kathmandu with your heart full of beautiful memorable Himalayan experiences.
Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival – 1400 mToday is your arrival day in Kathmandu. Once you finish the custom and visa process and come outside at the airport in Kathmandu, you will find a person waiting for you with our company sign board. Follow him to the car and you will be driven to your hotel. Check in, relax and spend some leisurely time.
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
We will take you for a historical and cultural sightseeing tour of Kathmandu after breakfast today. The tour will take you to some of the cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu valley. Those sites are Pashupatinath to see the Hindu cremation rituals on the bank of a holy river, Boudhanath which is the largest Buddhist stupa in the world, Swoyambhunath famously known as monkey temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square which is a medieval palace square where you visit the temple of living goddess, Kumari.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Syabrubensi
We start early drive to Syabrubesi after breakfast. An eight hour drive through scenic middle hills highway takes us to Syabrubesi to start the trek tomorrow towards Langtang valley. On reaching to Syabrubesi, check in to a guest house and explore the place a bit.
Day 04: Syabrubensi – Lama Hotel
The first day of Langtang valley trek, we trek to Lama hotel today. Lama hotel is actually the name of the overnight stay place for the day which is at the elevation of 2560 meters above sea level. Trek past beautiful landscapes and local villages to reach the wonders of Lama hotel and stay overnight there.
Day 05: Lama Hotel – Langtang Valley 3435m
We take our breakfast and get ready to start the day second of our trek today to Langtang valley. We walk to the higher elevation so we feel the change in the atmosphere, terrains only to discover the wonders of the amazing Langtang valley. Walking through the forested area and past some small villages, we enjoy the spirituality of the small Buddhist monuments called Chhorten and Mani walls with sacred prayers carved on them. Once we reach Langtang valley, we check in to one of the guest houses and feel relaxed at the serene atmosphere of the valley.
Day 06: Langtang Valley – Kyanjing Village
We start the day trek after breakfast to go gradually higher towards the famous Kyanjing village in the region. We walk past several Mani walls on the trails and crossing several beam bridges, we slowly march towards the Kyanjing village. After about 6 hours of walk on the winding trail up and down in the mountain, we reach Kynajing village and check into a teahouse.
Day 07: Kyanjing Area and Kyanjing Gompa Exploration
We take our day to hike to the famous Kynajing Gompa and explore the surrounding of the Gompa and later of the village. We will explore the area to find amazing traditional flour mills, sacred Buddhist Chhortens and Mani walls etc. to experience the spiritual energy and traditional cultural life style of people living in the region. We can enjoy some of the incredible Mountain View from this place.
Day 08: Kyanjing – Tserko Ri 5033m – Kyanjing
We hike to Tserko Ri today at the elevate ion of 5005 meters. We walk there for an incredible Himalayan sunrise and a spectacular view of mountains. After spending some quality time at Tserko Ri, we walk back down to Kyanjing Gompa and explore the place for the rest of the day. Stay overnight at Kyanjing today.
Day 09: Kyanjing – Lama Hotel
We start taking our way back down towards Lama Hotel today. After mapping the same trail back for about six hours, we reach Lama Hotel to stay overnight today.
Day 10: Lama Hotel – Thulo Syabru
We start our trek for the day to Thulo Syabru after breakfast. A walk of about 6 hours brings us beautiful views of the Langtang Himal and other mountain peaks on the range. It’s going to be a beautiful nature walk through serene forested part. On reaching Thulo Syabru, we check into a tea house and relax.
Day 11: Thulo Syabru – Shin Gompa
Our walk to Shin Gompa today is going to bring us some beautiful landscapes and places. The walk today is mostly on uphill trail and passes through beautiful villages and forested area. The walk will also bring unbelievable scenery of Langtang valley and Himalayan peaks. After an uphill walk of about 5 hours, we reach Shin Gompa to stay overnight there.
Day 12: Shin Gompa – Gosainkunda
We are still on the way of gaining elevation on our trek. We are walking to Gosainkunda today which lies at the elevation of 4,460 meters above sea level. An uphill walk on the mountain trail through some beautiful forested area and incredible landscape is worth taking as the walk is leading us towards the fabulous Gosaikunda in an incredible setting.
Day 13: Gosainkunda – Gopte
The trek today to Gopte is going to take us through a high mountain pass of Lauribinayak famously known as Laurebine La which is at the elevation of 4,610 meters above sea level. The uphill climb towards the pass brings us past some beautiful lakes, moraine tucked rough trail and eventually takes us to the top of the pass. Then the trail descends towards Phedi and we still continue walking through some forested part towards Gopte.
Day 14: Gopte – Melamchi Gaun
We trek to Melamchi Gaun today after breakfast. The trek passes through several forested part and villages and trail goes up and down the hill before it takes us to Melamchi Gaun. About seven hours of walk today is blessed by some incredible views on the way. We stay overnight at Melamchi Gaun today at the elevation of 2,560 meters above sea level.
Day 15: Melamchi Gaun – Tarke Gyang
The walk today to Tarke Gyang takes us to the Helambu area to experience Sherpa culture and lifestyle. Once we reach Tarke Gyang after about 7 hours of walk, we can experience the Sherpa culture and explore Buddhist monasteries in this traditional Sherpa village. We immerse into the cultural and spiritual atmosphere of the place for the day and spend overnight at Tarke Gyang.
Day 16: Tarke Gyang – Sermanthang
We trek to Sermanthang today. We walk past beautiful Sherpa villages and forested areas to go to Sermanthang. We will have some incredible experience of the Buddhist cultural practice of the region. After about 5 hours of walking, we reach the village of Sermanthang and explore the surrounding.
Day 17: Sermanthang – Melamchi Bazar – Kathmandu
We walk down to Melamchi Bazar on the bank of Melamhi river and a bus ride back to Kathmandu. The walk to Melamchi bazar is another beautiful walk through the Sherpa villages and the last walk of the trip. The bus ride back to Kathmandu is an experience of countryside driving in Nepal. On reaching Kathmandu, we check into a hotel and relax.
Day 18: Departure Day
Get ready at the hotel lobby 3 hours prior to your flight time and we will transfer you to airport for your departure flight.
