Experience the charm of enchanting mountain peaks in the Annapurna range of the Himalayas in this Annapurna Base Camp Trek also known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. This Himalayan adventure journey takes you to the base of the Annapurna I, the first 8000 meter mountain to be summited in 1950 by a French Expedition led by Maurice Herzog. The base camp is reached after several days of trekking on the trail that passes through beautiful villages, forest, river streams, waterfalls and of course spectacular mountain views not to miss.
The trek brings you to some amazing encounters with the charisma of the nature in its best expression. All the tiredness of the trekking in the mountains of several days magically disappears when such incredible encounters with natural beauty comes on the path. This Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes you gradually higher in the elevation towards the base camp of Annapurna I with the elevation of 4100 meters above sea level. You will experience the one of the best Himalayan trekking while you are on this trek.
Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival – 1400 mToday is your arrival day in Kathmandu. Once you finish the custom and visa process and come outside at the airport in Kathmandu, you will find a person waiting for you with our company sign board. Follow him to the car and you will be driven to your hotel. Check in, relax and spend some leisurely time.
Day 02: Kathmandu (1400m) – Pokhara – (827m) – B
Take your breakfast early and check out the hotel to travel to Pokhara today. We will drive to 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu to reach Pokhara, a charmingly beautiful city. About seven hours of drive will let us absorb the beauty of the Nepali rural settings. There will be a break on the way for the lunch. On reaching Pokhara and checking into our hotel, we will have some time to explore around the town on the lake side.
Day 03: Pokhara (827m) – Tikhedhunga (1577m) – B/L/D
We drive for one and half hours to Nayapul together with the trekking crew after the breakfast at hotel in Pokhara. On reaching Nayapul, the trekking crew will organize your luggage to carry on their back and we formally start our first day of trekking towards the Annapurna base camp. We will trek on the bank of Modi Khola, the river flowing down from the base of Mt. Fishtail, up to Birethanti and start walking towards Tikhedhunga on the left leaving the Modi Khola. The walk today is actually on a dirt road where we might have some occasional encounter with jeeps. Donkey train is commonly seen thing on the trek. After about 5 hours with the lunch break, we reach Tikhedhunga, a small but beautiful place on the foothills, to spend the night today.
Day 04: Tikhedhunga (1577m) – Ghorepani (2874m) – B/L/D
The trek for the day starts after early morning breakfast. The very first half of the trekking is a steep uphill walk for about 2 hours on nicely paved stone steps up to the village of Ulleri. We will spend a short break there to catch the first Himalayan glimpse of the day. The snow-capped Himalayan peak peeking from between green mountains looks gorgeous. We, then, start trekking further up towards Ghorepani but the remaining portion of the trek is not as steep uphill as the first section in the morning. Walking through forest mostly of the rhododendron trees brings beautiful aroma of the floral riches of the mountain. When we reach Ghorepani after about seven hours of walk from Tikhedhunga, we are welcomed by fresh breeze blowing from the high Himalayas and stunning view of the Himalaya on a clear day.
Check into a tea house and relax enjoying the view of the Himalayan sunset.
Day 05: Ghorepani (2874m) – Tadapani (2647m)– B/L/D
Wake up early for a rewarding hike to Poonhill this morning. Our effort early this morning to hike uphill to Poonhill will be rewarded with the spectacular panoramic view of the Himalayan range and an incredible sunrise over the mountains on a clear day. Sip your cup of tea and be enthralled by the incredibility of the mountains from the top of Poonhill. Hike down to Ghorepani after sunrise; take breakfast and get ready to start the trek to Tadapani. The first part of the trek takes you uphill almost to the height of Poonhill on the other mountain just opposite to it and then the trek descends for the lunch break of the day. After lunch walk further down just to go for another short step walking uphill to Tadapani. We will be welcomed by a close up view of Annapurna South and the soothing breeze coming from the grace of this stunning mountain.
Day 06: Tadapani (2647m) – Chhomrong (2340m) – B/L/D
Start the trekking for the day after breakfast. The first section of the trekking goes steep downhill through forest and local village to Kimrong Khola. Cross a suspension bridge over the river and walk uphill to Chhere Danda and then walk on gentle trail upto Chhomrong village, a typical ethnic village for Gurung community. Stay overnight in Chhomrong.
Day 07: Chhomrong (2340m) – Bamboo (2310) – B/L/D
Very first half of the morning trek today takes us down on the trail to cross Chhomrong Khola and start an uphill walk to Sinuwa. Walk even further to Bamboo trekking past a forested part. The trail walking today gives a beautiful experience of hiking in the mountain trail. Reach Bamboo and stay overnight there.
Day 08: Bamboo (2310m) – Deurali – (3230m) B/L/D
The walk today to Deurali goes past the part with huge bamboo forest. Walking some fascinating uphill and downhill trail today gives some beautiful insights on the high mountain flora. The nature walk of the day has such a powerful calming charm that we are going to enjoy it for sure. On reaching Deurali, we check into a tea house and relax for the day.
Day 09: Deurali (3230m) – Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) – B/L/D
We are going to reach our highest elevation and destination of this trip, Annapurna base camp. The walk for the day starts after breakfast and take onto a little more difficult walk to the Machhapuchhre Base camp from where we can see a stunning view of the Himalayan peaks. The gigantic snow-capped peaks of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre – fishtail, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna. After spending some time in the Machhapuchhre base camp, trek up towards the epic Annapurna base camp, the destination of this trip. Stay overnight at Annapurna base camp.
Day 10: Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) – Dobhan () – B/L/D
Wake up early for stunning morning air and view from the base of the Annapurna I. The incredible Himalayan amphitheater offers a charming Himalayan aura that brings a joyful and soothingly peaceful feeling in our heart and mind. Take breakfast at the base of an 8000 meter Himalayan peak and start the trek for the day to descend down to Dobhan for overnight stay. Follow the trail via Machhapuchhre base camp to Deurali and eventually to Dobhan.
Day 11: Dobhan – Jhinu Danda (1760m) – B/L/D
The trek today takes us to an even lower elevation at Jhinu Danda today. Trekking back to Chhomrong and descending even further to Jhinu Danda is a super exciting journey. Once in Jhinu, we might have some time to go to natural hot spring bath on the bank of Modi Khola. Spending sometime on the natural hot spring pool is highly soothing on the trekking tiredness. Stay overnight at Jhinu Danda.
Day 12: Jhinu Danda (1760m) – Pokhara (827) – B/L
Today is the last day of the trek. After trekking for about four hours, we will get to a village from where we can take a jeep ride to Nayapul. We will drive for about another 1.5 hours to Pokhara on a different vehicle from Nayapul. Stay overnight in Pokhara.
Day 13: Explore Pokhara – B
A day to explore around Pokhara. We will go for a boating trip on the Lake Fewa and spend about an hour on the lake. The cool breeze and splash of lake water while rowing the boat make the boating trip even more fun and relaxing. We will, then, drive to Davis falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev cave and Tibetan Refugee camp. Later return back to Lakeside for lunch.
Alternately, some adventure sporting activities like paragliding, zip flying, bungee jumping and ultra-light flight can be organized on the payment of extra cost.
Stay overnight in Pokhara.
Day 14: Pokhara (827m) – Kathmandu (1400m) – B/D
Catch the first flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. You will be picked up in Kathmandu airport by city tour guide to take you for some sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. The tour will take you to some of the cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu valley. Those sites are Pashupatinath to see the Hindu cremation rituals on the bank of a holy river, Boudhanath which is the largest Buddhist stupa in the world, Swoyambhunath famously known as monkey temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square which is a medieval palace square where you visit the temple of living goddess, Kumari.
Drive to your hotel after the sightseeing tour; check into hotel; freshen up and get ready to go for farewell dinner we are hosting for you.
Day 15: Departure Day – B
Get ready at the hotel lobby 3 hours prior to your flight time and we will transfer you to airport for your departure flight.
